Code of Conduct
Parents and Spectators
The attitude shown by parents and spectators at games
towards their own child, the opposing team, officials and coaches go along way
towards influencing the child’s values and behavior in the game. Disrespect and criticism of officials and
opponents undermine the purpose of sport and brings into the game stresses
beyond those of competition. Such
stresses have no place in Huntsville Boys Baseball Association.
Through your encouragement and
good example, you can help assure that all the boys and girls learn good
sportsmanship and self-discipline. It
is paramount that the parents and family of each player bear in mind that the
player is involved in HBBA sports for his or her enjoyment. NOT just for the parent’s or family’s
enjoyment.
- Respect your child’s
coach and league officials. These
individuals are volunteers giving of personal time and often money to
provide a recreational activity for your child. They provide a valuable community service, often without reward
other than the personal satisfaction of having served the community.
- Applaud good play by
your team and by the opposing team, never ridicule or criticize the play
of any player on the field. The
opposition are friends, not enemies.
Without them your child could not participate.
- Please refrain from
coaching your child or other players during games, unless you are one of
the official coaches of the team.
“No Grand Stand Managing”.
Remember as a volunteer organization, there’s usually always an
opportunity for you to take your interest in coaching to the next level
and become one yourself.
- Help your child work
towards skill improvement and good sportsmanship in every game. Your child will then be a winner, even
in defeat.
- Always be positive. Parents serve as role models for their
children. Become aware of this and
work to be a positive role model.
- Parents and
Spectators will conduct themselves in a manner that best serves the
interest of the players.
- Parents and
Spectators will comply with the decisions of league officials and observe
all rules, policies and procedures as established or endorsed by HBBA and
Pony Baseball.
